Siteman Cancer Research Fund grants $2 million for unique approaches to fighting cancer

Five scientists at the School of Medicine have received a combined $2 million in grants for their innovative approaches to fighting cancer. The awards are from the Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Research Fund.

Leila Nadya Sadat, JD, the Henry H. Oberschelp Professor of Law, added another international honor to her resumé recently when she was appointed special adviser on crimes against humanity by the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court.

Toys, joys at Brown School holiday celebration

The Brown School celebrated the holidays Dec. 12 by doing what it does best: giving back to the community. Toys collected at the Brown School during its annual Toys for Tots campaign were presented to local Marines for distribution. Also, students from the KIPP: Inspire Academy stopped by to thank the Brown School community for its help throughout the year by performing a holiday song and dance.

The School of Medicine’s 9th Annual Art Show is accepting submissions from students, faculty and staff. Those interested may bring their artwork and a completed submission form to the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center security desk weekdays through Jan. 18.

Conlon named Central Region Coach of the Year

Women’s soccer coach Jim Conlon was named the 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Central Region Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year. Conlon will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon Jan. 19, in conjunction with the 2013 NSCAA Convention in Indianapolis.
